Autumn 2016
Course: Game Design
Group Project with: Ken Are Meisler and Jaimy de Bok
The main project of this course was to develop a 2D computer game using the Unity engine. How do you make an engaging game? Game mechanics, balance, and win conditions was the framework for developing an engaging, ideally addictive, game. Guidelines were given during the course to help develop a game that is fitting and engaging for the target users.

User feedback was a decisive aspect of the development of the game. Early on, we did several user tests where we uncovered several issues with the gameplay. We then made improvements that made the game mechanics easier to understand, and the game as a whole more intuitive. By adding new mechanics, and reducing the time spent in different areas of the game, the game felt more engaging. A beat chart was developed to visualize the gameplay progress, and ensure that the player found the game engaging at all times. Adjustments to the beat chart was made during the development based on feedback from user tests.

Max Gravity is all about progressing through levels to find the escape shuttle and bringing Max to safety. Max Gravity is a puzzle solving game where the player controls Max power in 3rd person by making use of gravity controls, magnetic boots and found objects to open doors and advance through the game. Alongside the puzzles, hazards may be found that the player has to carefully avoid.
